Ben has some words… and I do too.
I’ll keep mine short but just say that for me also, Jason VERNEY (aka Mr MiniMiniMovie.com) the ICA London played a big part in my Independent cinema-going, dating for me back to around 2008.
This was my place to go for independent cinema, foreign films – including the now rather esteemed London Korean Film Festival – author and artist presentations, music, meeting friends in their fine bar space and more!

I had a membership for a few years, if my memory serves me correctly – and I have the physical plastic member cards somewhere to prove it.
Spending afternoons in the cinema space, especially their Cinema One holds good memories for me, and also friends of mine.
So… here’s what is happening:

Seven days. £100,000 goal. All gifts doubled.

“Hello, I’m Ben Whishaw and I’m here to support a campaign to raise urgent funds for the ICA cinemas.”
|
Support our Cinema is the ICA’s first annual fundraising campaign where every donation made by you, the ICA’s amazing audiences, will be matched by a generous group of supporters.
This year, the ICA is dedicating all funds to strengthening their cinema, making sure they can action essential upgrades and keep presenting daring independent films and urgent documentaries that are often screened nowhere else.
We have until midnight on 23 March (GMT) to raise £100,000. Your support, at any level, will have twice the impact and help secure the future of our work.

“One of my first memories is coming here with about three or four friends and seeing Fellini’s 8½ and just being overwhelmed by it. Meeting a masterpiece for the first time is always special, and that film is now forever tied with this venue.”
– Ben Whishaw, ICA Ambassador

***** LASTLY, thanks to the ICA London for the updates and great work that you do!
– Although I’m often travelling or filming in Asia I occasionally pop back to London… and if there’s time I’ll pay your sublime art space and cinema a visit.
Mr Verney / MMM *****
