The LKFF, KJK [Kim Jong-Kwan] & Festival Films (+ Feeling Festive with a Friend?)

Hi… It’s Mini Mini Me with just a Mini Mini article!

Yep… It’s Mr MMM (aka Jason Verney) here and unfortunately I was not able to attend this year’s LKFF (London Korean Film Festival) but occasional co-host of my/our “Not So Korean Podcast“, Timothy Holm did manage to catch some of it… and indeed has been covering some of it himself on his and Ji’s relatively recent website / podcast creation, The Cinema Exchange.

Well, seeing as I’ve covered & attended the LKFF for more than a decade and a half, I not only have fond memories of previous years – including interviews with directors / actors / filmmakers – but also am reminded of lovely podcasts in the past with the aforementioned Mr Holm.

This made me recall certain episodes of our NoSoKoPo (Not So Korean Podcast) in which we covered the London Korean Film Festival on more than one occasion plus Korean Cinema in general… but not only this, these memories which come to me, thanks to this 20th edition of the LKFF prompt my little brain to recall films we spoke about by a certain film director, Kim Jong-Kwan… but WHY?

Well, just like in at least one previous year (although I’m especially thinking about 2021 here), Mr Kim Jong-Kwan was in attendance at LKFF again in 2025!

He even speaks about the times he’s been to London before in this video…

Of course, he was promoting his latest movie and indeed World Premiere, “Frosted Window” this time around but it’s a few of his other films which brought this all to the forefront of my thinking this week.

So… In honour of this very good director, I’m dedicating this article to him and his works.

Here’s a little video episode of the NoSoKoPo back in early 2022, where we chat about a couple of Kim Jong-Kwan’s films, meeting Mr Kim himself and even more Korean films & items.

Oh and seeing as we are about a month away from Christmas, the re-sharing of this 2022 ‘Festive episode’ seemed even more apt! FESTIVE GREETINGS… ALL…!
