Mr MMM (MiniMiniMovie / Jason Verney) is, like many others, a cinema-goer and therefore somewhat of a cineaste [but also filmmaker & video artist) and whichever ‘head’ that Mr J.V. is wearing, that particular filmic time is partially filled with popping in and out of film festivals – and this may be screening one of my own projects OR lapping up new, old, experimental or mainstream narrative films and documentaries.
Well, being in Bristol for much of 2026 (but also in Chiang Mai, Thailand for some of it… plus Seoul and other Korean cities!), it meant that I could experience not only the cool venues that Bristol city has to offer but also festivals and events [see Cinema Rediscovered, for one!!] and one of those such things was the brand new and therefore inaugural edition of the BDFF / Bristol Documentary Film Festival.
So… Below… In this ‘on the fly’ episode, I speak about that brand new film festival which recently ‘landed’ in that city of Bristol… that Bristol Documentary Film Festival… which although my attendance was relatively brief, I really got a feel for its spirit, the hearts of those involved and the creative community – & indeed venues – it revolved around.
Sometimes in such episodes I move from topic to subject and neglect to mention specifics… and on that subject, I want to personally give a huge shout out, thanks and a “well done” to a certain Nicholas Jones, whom is essentially behind this wonderful new film festival!
Recorded on 9th September, 2026 (in Bristol, UK).
